Q. I understand that a number of plans have a Pension Plan Advisory Committee which includes representatives from both the employees and the pensioners groups. Does INVISTA have such a committee and are pensioners represented?
A. You are correct that such committees exist in a number of instances. In fact the Ontario Pension Benefits Act makes provision for the formation of such committees, however they are not mandatory, and the procedures to be followed require the cooperation and accommodation of the plan sponsor. INVISTA has no such committee formed under these provisions. When contacted regarding the possibility of forming a committee, they pointedly indicated the Act does not obligate them in this regard, and thus they were not required or inclined to grant the request. |
