Nortel Pensioners Update

Representatives of the Nortel Retirees and former employees Protection Canada (NRPC), supported by appropriate experts, continue to plead with the federal government for relief opposite anticipated cuts to their pensions and benefits.

On March 25^th they appeared before the Standing Committee on Finance (FINA) to state their case. The presentation they made can be viewed live at:

It is strongly recommended viewing material and provides a clear picture of the pending pension difficulties faced by Nortel retirees, their families and dependents and the bleak future faced by those individuals with disability status.

While we DIPAC retirees do not currently face comparable prospects, given current legislation it is easy to understand why this situation ought to be of personal concern to each one of us. Thus the importance of contacts with our MPs and MPPs via visits to their offices, letters, etc. Requests that you undertake these initiatives are critical to pension reform, and pension reform is the only real assurance we have that our pensions continue without compromise into the future.
